Calista Flockhart is an American actress born on November 11, 1964 in Freeport, Illinois. Calista Flockhart has one brother, Gary, and they were raised in various U.S. states like Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, New Jersey and New York due to her father’s work as an executive for Kraft Foods. Her parents are now retired and are living in East Tennessee. As a child, Calista Flockhart showed her talent as an entertainer by writing and performing the play “Toyland” during a dinner party.

Calista Flockhart studied at the Shawnee High School in Medford Township, New Jersey. Calista Flockhart graduated in 1983, and soon after she entered the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. During her stay at the university Calista Flockhart met Jane Krakowski, whom she would befriend and later co-star in “Ally McBeal.” Calista Flockhart later performed in Harold Scott’s production of William Inge’s “Picnic” while still a student. Calista Flockhart eventually graduated with a degree in theatre in 1988. In 2003, Calista Flockhart was inducted into the Rutgers Hall of Distinguished Alumni.

After graduating, Calista Flockhart moved to New York City to pursue an acting career. Among her first acting credits include an appearance in the soap opera “Guiding Light” and minor roles in movies “Quiz Show,” “Getting In,” “Naked In New York” and “Drunks.”

Calista Flockhart gained fame and stardom after taking up the title role in the law drama-comedy series, “Ally McBeal.” Calista Flockhart received a Golden Globe Award for her role on the show, and stayed on the show from 1997 to 2002.

After “Ally McBeal,” Calista Flockhart took some time off from acting, occasionally starring in movies such as “The Last Shot” and “Fragile.” Calista Flockhart returned to television in 2006, this time as part of an ensemble cast for the family drama series, “Brothers & Sisters.”

Calista Flockhart is currently engaged to actor Harrison Ford. They have an adopted son, Liam, born in 2001.
