Calista Kay Flockhart is an American actress better known as Ally McBeal from the famous TV series
"Ally McBeal".

Calista Flockhart started off her career with a one-episode appearance in the soap opera “Guiding Light” in the role of a babysitter. Not long after, Calista Flockhart made her professional acting debut in the New York stage production of “Beside Herself” co-starring Melissa Joan Hart. Two years after, Calista Flockhart played a role in the TV movie “Darrow.” Calista Flockhart also appeared in the movies “Naked in New York” and “Getting In” in 1993 and 1994.

Calista Flockhart soon bagged her first substantial role in the movie “Quiz Show.” Soon after, Calista Flockhart made her Broadway debut in the play “The Glass Menagerie.” Calista Flockhart later moved on to star in plays without the need of going through auditions because of her proven acting prowess. Calista Flockhart also became a recipient of the Clarence Derwent Award for her performances. In 1995, Calista Flockhart worked with Faye Dunaway and Diane West in the movie “Drunks,” and later the same year she starred in the movie “Jane Dow.”

In 1996, Calista Flockhart starred as the daughter of Gene Hackman and Diane West in the movie “The Birdcage.” Calista Flockhart also continued her Broadway work, most notably in the role of Natasha in the Anton Chekov classic, “Three Sisters.”

In 1997, Calista Flockhart starred in the title role of the law drama series, “Ally McBeal.” The Fox series, produced by David E. Kelley, became a huge hit. Calista Flockhart eventually won a Golden Globe Award for her role in the show in 1998, and later that year she appeared on the cover of Time magazine.

After the success of “Ally McBeal,” Calista Flockhart also appeared in movies such as “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in 1999 and in “Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her” in 2000. She also starred in “Bash: Latter-Day Plays,” and “The Vagina Monologues.”

Calista Flockhart later starred opposite Matthew Broderick in the movie “The Last Shot.” Calista Flockhart also filmed the movie “Fragile,” which in turn premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2005.

In the latter part of 2000s, Calista Flockhart was offered the role of Susan Mayer on the series “Desperate Housewives,” but the role was eventually won by Terri Hatcher. Calista Flockhart later accepted the role of Kitty Walker in the family drama series “Brothers & Sisters,” working alongside Sally Field and Rachel Griffiths.
